I consider “Lost in Translation” a masterpiece. Some people disagree. Discussion at the time got sidetracked by endless debates about what he did/should have/maybe whispered to her. I think Sofia Coppola’s point was…he said *something* private, personal, and judging by the body language, gentle and kind. No specific words are necessary, and might even have diminished the scene.
